The machining theorem of skived fin heat sinks is to utilize the skived fin’s characteristics of one-time forming based on plasticity of the materials (extruded aluminum or aluminum alloys). Therefore, there is no need for further machining or joining process and the finished product of skived fin heat sinks can remain the original material’s thermal performance. Moreover, it can realize the manufacturing requirements of higher densities and larger dimensions so as to enhance its cooling performance. A skived fin heat sink can satisfy the design requirements of larger heat sinks and can be used in the cooling of various high power electric motors such as PV inverters, wind power converters, medium-to-high voltage transformers, power battery packs, etc.
